Holiday Letter from Paul Porter
( Porter Family President )

Dear Porter Family Members,

Thank you for signing up on our website. I hope you have enjoyed the resources that have been posted. As we enter this holiday season, I would ask that you take the time to consider the great blessings that we have received from our forefathers. Many of us have histories, pictures, stories, poems, genealogy, e-mail addresses, etc., that could be a help and blessing to other family members. I feel a great responsibility to encourage family members to move forward with this great work. If everyone would submit one resource to be posted it would be a great blessing to us, and our ancestors! I would like to set the goal of sending only e-mails to announce our annual reunion. It would cost a lot less money, and help us stay in touch with one another. To do this we need to have many more members signed up on e-mail. If you would forward this e-mail to as many family members as possible and have them sign up at SanfordPorter.org it would be a great help.

Last week I was re-reading Sanford Porter's history and felt such a feeling of gratitude for the time he spent and the sacrifice he made in sharing his life and experiences with us. Let us follow his example and make a difference in the lives of our relatives! Alma taught the importance of keeping and using records: "Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.  And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.  And now, it has hitherto been wisdom in God that these things should be preserved; for behold, they have enlarged the memory of this people, yea, and convinced many of the error of their ways, and brought them to the knowledge of their God unto the salvation of their souls.   (Alma 37:6-8). Let us move forward with diligence and faith.

We are also looking for a 2nd Vice President to work with us in the family organization. If you are interested or would like to know more contact me at port117@alpine.k12.ut.us.
